What to Expect Ganglion Impar Bock

The Ganglion Impar Block is performed as an outpatient procedure in our procedure room.

• You will be positioned lying on your stomach 

• We will use fluoroscopy (live X-ray) guidance to ensure precise placement of the needle. A local anesthetic will be used to numb the skin before the injection over your tailbone.

• You may feel a brief sensation of pressure or discomfort during the procedure, but it is generally well-tolerated.

After the Procedure: Following the Ganglion Impar Block, you will be monitored for a short period in the recovery area before being discharged home. You may experience some temporary numbness or weakness in the pelvic area, which should resolve within a few hours. It's essential to have someone available to drive you home after the procedure, as you may experience some drowsiness or muscle weakness due to the sedative medication.

 

Post-Procedure Care: We will provide specific instructions regarding post-procedure care, which may include avoiding strenuous activities for a certain period and applying ice to the injection site to reduce any swelling or discomfort.
